FC Barcelona was founded in 1899 by Joan Gamper, a Swiss football enthusiast who placed an ad in a local newspaper in Barcelona to gather players interested in forming a club.
In its early years, the club faced several challenges such as financial instability, the unpopularity of football in Spain, and political issues like the Spanish Civil War. Despite these difficulties, Barcelona rose to become one of the greatest football clubs in the world.
