The 32-year-old Canadian singer is one of three acts headlining this year’s festival alongside Sabrina Carpenter and Karol G – with the event also marking his major live performance comeback. After previously being forced to cancel a tour in 2022, Justin released his seventh album Swag in July last year. It was nominated for four Grammys, while he also performed his song Yukon at the awards ceremony in February. This weekend he stepped onto the stage for his first major festival set in years – however many fans were left wanting more.
‘The way Justin Bieber is just doing karaoke to his own songs at Coachella…I’m so disappointed!! I wasn’t expecting anything too big or long, but to do sing a longs & cut the songs off and not do a proper medley with transitions…kinda lame,’ user Tristan posted on X. ‘Justin Bieber supposedly got paid TEN million dollars to sing at Coachella only for him to show clips on a laptop? This is below bare minimum,’ Kay declared. ‘No artist has been less interested in playing their Coachella set less than Justin Bieber is,’ Evan shared. ‘Justin Bieber currently has a laptop set up on the Coachella main stage, pulling up his own YouTube videos and basically karaokeing whatever comes to mind from his searches. No setlist — just whatever he finds on YouTube. A few videos have even had to buffer. Honestly…kind of incredible to watch,’ FestiveOwl wrote. ‘Can’t believe that this is a headliner this is just a mess no good production, horrible visuals, no outfit changes, no backup dancers and performing khia songs. Who made him headline,’ Cyberstar added. Others called it a ‘snoozefest’, ‘lazy’, and even ‘garbage’.

It seems the $15million spent on reshooting the new Michael Jackson biopic paid off, as early reactions have praised it as ‘the ultimate love letter to fans’. Michael, starring his nephew Jaafar Jackson in the lead role, had a rocky road to get to the cinema after having to cut out child abuse allegation scenes, which Jackson himself denied while alive. The film promised an ‘unbiased’ look at the Bad singer’s life, from his early years in Jackson 5 to a reported ending with the police closing in on Neverland Ranch. According to Variety, filmmakers were forced to reshoot the finale after a clause in the settlement with Jordan Chandler, which prohibited him from being depicted in any film.
It’s perfect,’ wrote @therealsupes. ‘Jaafar Jackson gives the performance to beat for the rest of the year. I can’t say enough about it. ‘The voice, the dancing, the heart & soul are all there & it was magic. Entire theater was singing & dancing the whole way through. The ultimate love letter to Michael fans. This is the movie we wanted.’ Full critic reviews are not yet out, so those curious about the movie will have to go off the remarks on social media. Equally enthusiastic @LiamTCrowley of ScreenRant said: ‘#MichaelMovie is why we go to the movies. Thriller, Beat It, etc recreated to perfection – genuinely couldn’t resist a head bump and finger tap at any moment. ‘Makes you smile where it wants to, wince where it needs to. Colman is your earliest supporting actor candidate. Some pacing woes, but strong stuff all around. Can’t wait to see this one with a crowd.
C’mon. You know what this is, we don’t have to explain it to you. It’s lurked around Netflix’s most-watched list for an incredible 40 weeks now. Sure, catchy pop songs, anime and South Korean pop culture are all globally popular, but who could’ve seen this coming? KPop Demon Hunters has gone more than stratospheric (mesospheric? exospheric…?). Your great-great-great-great-great grandchildren will still be streaming this on Netflix when they’re living in care homes.
The world’s most disarming investigative journalist steps into the murky world of online masculinity here. He speaks to a number of influencers and followers within ‘The Manosphere’, attempting to unpack their controversial and potentially damaging views on dating, status and gender roles. As ever, Theroux’s approach is calm and quietly probing, letting conversations unfold rather than forcing them. It’s an uncomfortable watch in places, but presents a hidden world to a mass audience. Arguably, there are more questions raised than answers provided, but that’s often the way with the kind of topics that Theroux likes to shine a light on.
Priyanka Arulmohan leads this Indo-Korean drama as Shenba, a small-town woman from Tamil Nadu who finally makes it over to Seoul, only to find out that reality doesn’t quite match the dream. What starts as a long-held ambition quickly turns into a test of resilience as she has to navigate language barriers, culture shock and being left to fend for herself. The cast includes the likes of Park Hye-jin, Rishikanth, Jang Jae-hyeon and Kim Sori. It’s a gentle, character-led film that’s the most-watched non-English language movie on Netflix right now.
The hulking Alan Ritchson leads this sci-fi action film set during a brutal military training programme, one that quickly turns into something far more dangerous and weird. A group of recruits find themselves pushed beyond standard drills and into a fight for survival as the situation escalates into a fight to the death against seemingly unstoppable space robots. Sounds daft and it kind of is. But War Machine is unrelenting and packed full of action. It’s basically Reacher vs. Predator. And what’s not to enjoy about that, eh?
Oppenheimer himself, Mr. Cillian Murphy, returns as Tommy Shelby in this continuation of the popular Peaky Blinders story, set against a shifting political landscape and new threats emerging from Europe.
